Andhra Pradesh Reports 4 Covid-19 Deaths, 12 Cases In A Month; Health Department On Alert (X)

Amaravati: New information has emerged regarding the coronavirus in Andhra Pradesh. State Health Commissioner G Veerapandian on Thursday stated that between June 26 and July 16, 12 people in the state tested positive for Covid-19, four of whom died. All four patients had underlying medical conditions.

What did G Veerapandian say?

Andhra Pradesh Health Commissioner G Veerapandian stated that the deceased had serious health problems, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and kidney disease. He added that sporadic Covid-19 cases have been reported in the state. Of the four deaths, three were from Kadapa district and one was from Kakinada.

"Sporadic Covid-19 cases were reported in the state. Between June 26 and July 16, 12 people contracted Covid-19 virus and four out of them succumbed," Veerapandian said in an official press release.

Where were the cases reported in the state?

According to the commissioner, Andhra Pradesh's first Covid-19 case in 2026 was reported in Kadapa district on June 26. This was followed by 11 more cases between July 1 and July 16. The health department reported that two people fell ill after coming into close contact with infected patients.

The highest number of cases were reported from Kadapa district, with eight patients. Guntur reported two cases, while Visakhapatnam and Kakinada reported one case each.

Veerapandian clarified that all these cases have come from different divisions, it is not a cluster of any one place.

He also stated that 67 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the state between June 26 and July 15, of which 11 were positive. The twelfth case was detected at the Christian Medical College in Vellore, Tamil Nadu. Three of the infected patients are in home isolation, two are being treated in the hospital, and three have recovered and discharged.

How many cases are reported in India?

Nationwide, 339 Covid-19 cases have been reported since July 1. Kerala has recorded the highest number of cases at 115, followed by Karnataka with 64, Maharashtra with 43, and Tamil Nadu with 39.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Delhi have reported 18 cases each, while Rajasthan has reported 12. A few other states have also reported small numbers of cases.
